OK so now the man can't eat. UGH Enough already. Hasn't he gone through enough? First they take his stomach so his whole world changes and now he can't swallow.
Scar tissue. Yup scar tissue. His latest and greatest CT did in fact show his esophagus narrowing...FINALLY we have the evidence we need for an esophageal dilation.
Sooo its back to Duke we go. This time they tell us they are going to biopsi the connection site...GULP...I don't like biopsis. You know I heard the word all the time before and it never phased me...until this year. The good thing about it was we would finally know if the radiation worked on Tony's cancer that was left over after surgery. See they never biopsi'd that area because nothing showed up on the CT...even though pathology said otherwise. This always made me nervous, but I just filed it away in the back of my brain and continued to pray and put one foot infront of the other.
Back out to the waiting room, open the work laptop and start to do what I always do during his outpatient procedures...work work work. After about 3 emails, my pager goes off and he is done. WOW THAT WAS FAST!!! I walked back to his recovery room. Doc was there. No tumors, which is good, but he did see the narrowing so he stretched his esophagous with a balloon. Now my baby can eat!!! :)
So glad everything went well! Now take him home and plan a Happy New Year Cancer FREE party!
